The Dental Manufacturing Company Ltd. (DMCo.), the parent of a group of companies, was formed in 1873 and was exclusively concerned with the manufacture and sale of dental goods until the Hawtin family took control of the company in 1947. Since then it has diversified its activities. Its interests now include motor vehicle silencers, agricultural machinery, civil and con- structional engineering, transport, chemicals, timber and kitchen equipment. Most of this diversification has taken place in the last five or six years.
