Ephrain Brown.
Ephraim Brown patented and manufactured treadle-powered lathes and scrollsaws. The data we have shows he was active during the mid-1870s, but he may have operated both before and after that time.

This lathe was listed on eBay in the Spring of 2004 and is surprisingly complete. While the lathe cabinet was constructed of wood, the lathe bed was a dovetail-profiled casting that ran it's length. The head-stock, tool-rest socket, and tail-stock all used a tapered gib-locking arrangement to securely position them as they were slid along the lathe's ways.
