Barnes Wood Lathes

Barnes Wood Lathes.

The Firm W.F. Barnes produced 3 wood lathes, the Nr 1 ,Nr 2 and Nr 3.

The Nr 1 Wood Lathe. The Nr 1 was made for a short period from 1874 till 1880.

The Nr 2 wood lathe, made from??? Till ????

This lathe has a cast bed and was made only fopr a few years,[ have to find out witch when].

Also included in this lathe is a slide rest.

The Nr 3 Wood Lathe. The Nr 3 then became the company's only wood lathe, and it endured through several type changes.

 

 
 
It helps knowing what type of #3 lathe he has.  Pedals and seat are typical.  Flywheel and related parts are not.  Casting for the #3 type 1 & 2 flywheels are harder to cast than the type 3 flywheel.
