2 Edgar lathes

These where for Sale.
Two EDGAR Lathes by Holbrook

First Offered as single lathe, EDGAR lathe by Holbrook 5.5" x 21". Gap-bed, backgeared and screwcutting. A most ingenious and unusual machine with the bed consisting of two separate sections - one guiding the headstock and tailstock the other, able to be swung, the carriage. This example has been in the hands of one family since the early 1920s and is still mounted on its treadle-drive stand. The whole assemble is in remarkably fine, original condition and is still in use by its octogenarian owner.

SOLD: a pair of antique EDGAR lathes (by Holbrook) at just £100 the pair. 5.5" centre height by 21" between centres, backgeared and screwcutting with the special set-over Edgar bed. I bought these to restore, but just have no time to do them - and need the room, so they have to go. Everything in the pictures is included. The example in green is particularly complete and has the original maker's treadle-drive stand, several chucks, fixed and travelling steadies, changewheels, tailstock chuck, etc. and a wall-mounted countershaft unit.  The red machine is actually better than it looks, being covered in oil-soaked sawdust.
